According to the Associated Press, model Anna Nicole Smith was investigated by the FBI for a suspected murder-for-hire plot to kill E. Pierce Marshall, the son and heir to her late husband, oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall.The investigation, which was conducted in 2000 and 2001, was dropped due to lack of evidence. Mark Hatten, an ex-boyfriend of Smith, claims that she asked him to contract the murder.
