After coming up through the Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League, Hedden joined the Neumann College Knights for his rookie season in 2005-2006. His impact was felt immediately, scoring 18 goals and 14 assists in 25 games to rank second on the team in points. He was recognized by being named to the ECAC West All-Rookie Team.
