Comedian Katt Williams arrested for burglary

Comedian Katt Williams, who is known for his appearances in Friday After Next and his stand-up comedy, was reportedly arrested early this morning in suburban Atlanta on charges of burglary and criminal trespassing. TMZ.com obtained his mug shot from the arrest, in which he is smiling for the camera.

Police were called last night to a Newnan, Georgia, residence after a homeowner claimed Williams "gained entry by breaking into the home," taking jewelry and other undisclosed items. Williams was being held at the Coweta County Jail with an arraignment scheduled for later today.

The entertainer has been in legal trouble before, with his most recent arrest coming last November in New York City. Police stopped Williams after he was spotted driving without license plates. A search of the car revealed three guns, but the weapons charges were later dropped for lack of evidence.

Previous arrests for firearms date back to 2006, when he was sentenced to three years probation for carrying a concealed firearm. The comedian also canceled a 2008 appearance at The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas following erratic behavior that led to a psychiatric evaluation.
